Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Peters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Yoo! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yoo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Peters looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Peters throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A jab from Peters finds it's way through Yoo's defenses. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Yoo has eaten all the pies! Yoo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Peters's half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Yoo wants to control but Peters is keeping him busy. Yoo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Yoo is trying to control the action in half guard but Peters is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Yoo wants to free his trapped foot but Peters is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Yoo was stalling too much, according to the referee. Horrible takedown by Yoo or perhaps it was just good defense by Peters which made him look bad.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peters leaves Yoo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. James Peters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Yoo. Yoo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Yoo swings for the body but Peters moves out of range.
Peters lands a slapping body shot.
James Peters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Peters feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Yoos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Peters lands with a nice body punch. Yoo rushes Peters and presses him up against the cage. Yoo tightens his grip and picks Peters up, before dumping him to the ground. Peters manages to land in guard. Yoo is pushing down on Peters's leg trying to pass to half guard. Peters is fighting to maintain full guard but Yoo has managed to sneak the leg through. Yoo trying to control from half guard but Peters is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yoo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Peters kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Yoo stops Peters from getting back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yoo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Peters paws at him with a jab and circles away. Yoo dives in and grabs Peters's left leg, looking for a takedown. Peters pushes down on Yoo's head and hops out. Yoo throws a sloppy head kick and Peters moves out of range easily. Yoo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Peters is fending him off so far but Yoo persists. Nope, Peters circles away and we're back to standing. Peters cracks a nice hook into Yoo's ribs. Peters misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yoo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Peters manages to avoid it. Yoo has a takedown stuffed. Peters misses with a wild body shot. James Peters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Peters stuffs the takedown. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Peters, as that shot connected.
Peters misses with a double jab.
A head kick misses from Yoo. Yoo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Peters tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yoo was well out of range. Poor timing from Peters. The fight moves into the clinch position. Peters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peters misses with a two punch combination.
Yoo throws a sloppy head kick and Peters moves out of range easily. Peters defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yoo. Peters throws a series of punches but Yoo moves out of range. Peters connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Yoo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Yoo swinging wildly here.
Yoo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Peters connects with a crisp jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Yoo dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Yoo instigates a clinch. Yoo manages to break the clinch.
Yoo misses with a wild body shot. Yoo wants to clinch up but Peters keeps it at a distance. Peters connects with the punch. Yoo wants to clinch. Yoo tries to clinch but Peters is having none of it. Yoo moves in looking to clinch but Peters pushes him off. Peters keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Yoo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Yoo fails with the takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peters changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Yoo throws a sloppy head kick and Peters moves out of range easily. Peters cracks a nice hook into Yoo's ribs. Peters stuns Yoo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Peters throws a body punch but Yoo moves out of range. No joy there for Yoo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Peters throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yoo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Peters swivels and escapes. James Peters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Yoo. Peters displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Yoo. Peters throws a series of punches but Yoo avoids them all with ease. Yoo moves away from the strike by Peters.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yoo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Peters swats him away and circles back towards the center. James Peters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Yoo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Peters as he avoids it easily. Peters ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Yoo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Yoo wants to clinch up but Peters keeps it at a distance. Yoo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Yoo trying to control but Peters is working from the bottom. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Yoo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Yoo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Peters circles away. Peters lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Yoo backs up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yoo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peters as he jumps to the side. Good shot there by Peters. Yoo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Yoo shoots and misses and Peters cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Yoo shoots for a double leg takedown but Peters sprawls well. He's pushed Yoo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Peters stalks Yoo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Yoo's face. Yoo staggers backwards, shaken. Yoo scores with a head kick. Peters tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Yoo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Yoo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Peters pinned against the cage. Peters gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Yoo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yoo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Yoo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peters's waist but Peters gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yoo off to one side. Peters will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Yoo fails with a takedown attempt. A punch combination from Yoo misses. Yoo takes a jab right on the kisser.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Yoo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Peters lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Yoo throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Peters. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but John Yoo will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Peters lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Excellent takedown into side control there by Yoo. Yoo throws a strike aimed at the side of Peters's head but Peters avoids it well. Yoo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Yoo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Yoo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Peters has escaped the position, nice work there. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yoo trying to control the action but Peters is working from the bottom. James Peters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Yoo staying calm. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
OK we're going to have a standup here. John Yoo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Yoo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yoo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Peters manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Peters escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yoo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Peters can't keep his opponent in guard - Yoo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peters pushes Yoo off looking to stand but Yoo dives back in and keeps control.
Yoo is trying to control. Peters wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Yoo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Yoo slows the pace down in half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! John Yoo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Yoo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
