PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hindu Kush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Miller looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Hindu Kush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Miller!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller gets tackled into the cage by Kush. Kush maintains the clinch.
Miller misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kush tries to work over Miller's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Miller working some nice short punches in the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Miller fails to land.
A short left from Kush.
Miller lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kush backwards.
Kush stalling in the clinch but Miller improves position.

Kush breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kush takes a swing at Miller's ribcage but misses.
A swing and a miss from Miller.
Kush shoots in for a takedown but Miller shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Miller tries to keep at a distance but Kush has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kush has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kush keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Miller's efforts to push away.
Miller swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kush prevents a body shot from Miller.
Kush scores with a shoulder strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kush misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kush struggles to land a body shot inside as Miller controls his hands.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Kush just misses with a elbow thrown towards Miller's brow.
Kush blocks an uppercut.
Miller is leaning against Kush and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Kush is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Kush blocking some punches.

Kush's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Miller stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Miller wants it to stay on the feet.
Miller takes one to the chin there.
Miller scores with a jab to the head.
Kush looks to land a right hand but Miller moved out of range.
Miller scores with a shot to the body.
Miller swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kush tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kush misses with a wild body shot.
Kush throws a low kick but Miller avoids it.
Kush tries to clinch up
and Miller counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Miller walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kush throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Miller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kush.
Kush throws a front kick aimed at Miller's knee but Miller avoids it well.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but Kush shows good takedown defense.
Kush shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Miller as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hindu Kush. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kush gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Miller.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miller shoots in but no luck this time.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kush looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kush throws a shot from downtown. Miller moves away and avoids it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kush.
Miller dives in and grabs Kush's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kush pushes down on Miller's head and hops out.
Kush misses the jab.
Kush attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Miller ducks under a wild hook from Kush.
Kush fails with the takedown
and Miller counters with a straight right hand.
Kush tries for a takedown but Miller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kush tries to clinch but Miller moves out of range.
Kush swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Miller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kush tries to avoid it but Miller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kush to the ground. Kush escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Miller thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kush darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Miller has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kush scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Kush lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Miller circles away quickly and effectively.
Miller circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kush tries for a takedown but Miller sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kush throws out a loose jab but Miller uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kush moves in looking to clinch but Miller pushes him off.
Kush swings for the body but Miller moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hindu Kush dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kush on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Kush fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Miller avoids it really well and circles away.
Miller uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kush.
Kush moves away from the strike by Miller.

Kush gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Miller stopping the sweep attempt from Kush.

Kush throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Kush keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
Miller chips away with some ground and pound.
Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kush is trying to keep Miller in close.

Kush had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller won't allow Kush to sweep him here.
Kush looking to control.
Kush wants to sweep here but Miller controlling him for the moment.
Kush avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Miller working some strikes from top position.
Miller throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miller with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kush is trying to control the position but Miller postures up.
Kush is really struggling to control Miller but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kush preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Miller landing some decent shots from guard.
Miller missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kush might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kush looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Miller puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Kush is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Miller jumps into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Kush's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kush dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Miller slips under a jab.
A telegraphed right hand from Miller misses the target.
Kush darts in trying to clinch
and Kush takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kush tries to clinch up but Miller circles away and keeps his distance.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kush as he jumps to the side.
Kush throws out a leg kick but Miller moves out of range and Kush only half commits.
Miller throws a lazy uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Miller avoids the body shot from Kush.
Miller on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller leaves Kush with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kush ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miller moves away.
Miller uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kush.
Kush shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Miller pinned against the cage. Miller gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kush moves in looking to clinch but Miller pushes him off.
Miller staying out of range there.
Miller keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Kush moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Miller changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kush looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller is chipping away with strikes.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kush is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Miller off and has taken his back!
Kush connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Miller to escape the position.
Kush throws a series of strikes and Miller wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Miller is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Miller is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kush with shots to the head and body - Miller looks very uncomfortable down there.

Kush landing shots from mount.
Kush looking to ground and pound but Miller is blocking nicely.
Hindu Kush overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Miller wants to control but Kush is having none of it.
Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Miller is trying to escape the mount.
Kush throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Kush unloads with some shots from mount but Miller bucks and avoids them well.
Miller is squirming around, avoiding Kush's attempts to control the action.
Miller taking shots to the head.
Kush thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miller regains half guard.
Miller is positioning himself well to prevent Kush advancing to mount.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kush connects with a nice short shot to Miller's temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kush is nestled in close to Miller, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hindu Kush showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kush has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
