Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robert Safertin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Ezekiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Safertin comes to the cage accompanied by You'll never walk alone. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Safertin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ezekiel! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Safertin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ezekiel counters by moving into the clinch. Safertin misses with the head strike.
Safertin doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ezekiel turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The referee asks Ezekiel politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ezekiel prefers to stall for the moment though. Safertin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ezekiel on the ground. Safertin is trying to control Ezekiel's posture but Ezekiel avoids it. Ezekiel is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Safertin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Ezekiel's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Ezekiel decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Safertin scores with a punch to the head. Safertin clinches up with Ezekiel and pushes him back against the cage. Ezekiel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ezekiel instigates a clinch. Safertin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Safertin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Ezekiel blocks the elbow strike.
Ezekiel looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Safertin is trying to pull guard but Ezekiel has him pressed against the cage. Safertin wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Safertin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ezekiel avoids a wild elbow strike from Safertin. Safertin throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ezekiel blocks it with crossed arms. Safertin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ezekiel avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ezekiel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Safertin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ezekiel, pushing him back against the cage. Safertin has Ezekiel pressed against the cage, preventing Ezekiel from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Safertin using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Safertin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
This has been an exciting period of action! Safertin lands a damaging elbow. Ezekiel managing to block the knees to the body from Safertin.
Ezekiel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Safertin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Safertin decides to pull guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ezekiel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Ezekiel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ezekiel advances position into side control! Safertin can't do much from the bottom here. Ezekiel is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Safertin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Ezekiel gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Safertin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Ezekiel lets go of the hold and Safertin can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Johnny Ezekiel!
