Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Staal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kingo Kongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Staal.
Staal scoring well with a low kick there.
Staal lands with a thumping leg kick.
Staal throws a jab when Kongo was well out of range.
Staal scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kongo misses with a series of wild punches.
Staal takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Staal pushes Kongo away with a front kick.
Kongo looks winded!
Staal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kongo tries to avoid it but Staal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kongo to the ground. Kongo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Staal stuns Kongo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kongo avoids the body shot from Staal.
Staal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kongo was well out of range. Poor timing from Staal.
Staal misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kongo.

Staal swats away the attempt to clinch by Kongo.

Staal tests Kongo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Kingo Kongo has been cut.
Kongo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Staal's calf.
Staal looks to throw the jab but Kongo is out of range.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Staal takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Staal throws a hook but Kongo avoids it easily.
Kongo gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kongo clinches up with Staal and pushes him back against the cage.
Kongo blocks a body shot from Staal.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kongo scores with a nice hook to the head.

Staal misses with some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kongo.
Kongo fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kongo looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Staal swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Staal gets through Kongo's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kongo scores with a knee to the head.
Staal is looking to control Kongo's arms but Kongo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Staal has his back to the cage.
Staal goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Staal lands a body punch in the clinch.

Staal lands a hook that snaps the head of Kongo backwards.

Kongo swings wildly with an uppercut but Staal uses good head movement to avoid it.

Staal tries a body shot but Kongo blocks it.
Kongo works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Staal breaks from the clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Staal misses the target.

Staal throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Staal blocks a low kick nicely.
Staal misses with a shot to the body
and Kongo counters with a straight right hand.
Kongo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Staal counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Staal is looking to wear down Kongo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Kongo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kongo moves out of range as Staal strikes.
Kongo throws the left hand but Staal avoids the punch easily.
Staal swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kongo wants to clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kongo scores with a sloppy right hand. Staal should have avoided that one.
Staal misses the shot to the body.
Staal throws a leg kick which misses Kongo's front leg but catches the back leg as Kongo tries to avoid it.
Kongo moves out of range as Staal strikes.
Kongo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kongo throws a body kick that misses.
Kongo tries to clinch but Staal is having none of it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Staal goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Staal keeps the fight on the outside.
Staal throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Staal dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kingo Kongo's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Kongo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Kongo fails to land with a series of punches.
Staal connects with a nice looking jab.
Staal swings away with a leg kick that misses.

John Staal is winning the standup battle so far.
A lazy left from Staal finds it's target.
Kongo is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Staal engages and cracks Kongo with a massive lead left hook - Kongo tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Staal is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
