Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thiago Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Will Leander!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leander checks the leg kick nicely there.
Ribeiro looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Leander rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ribeiro moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ribeiro gets tackled into the cage by Leander. Leander maintains the clinch.
Ribeiro is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Leander to keep the fight standing.
Leander should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ribeiro drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Leander's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A combination from Leander does no damage.
Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown but Leander shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Leander shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ribeiro manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Leander wanted to stand there but Ribeiro had control of the position.

Leander makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Leander wants to stand but Ribeiro has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Leander throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ribeiro avoids a punch combination nicely.
Leander throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Leander counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Leander gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Leander can't get the takedown.

Leander pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Leander fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Leander throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Leander fails to land with a series of punches.
Leander stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ribeiro.

Leander closes the distance and pushes Ribeiro back into the cage.
Ribeiro has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Leander avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Leander breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Leander shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ribeiro's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ribeiro bucks up and tries to throw Leander off but instead Leander has got his back!

and Ribeiro counters with a shoot takedown. Leander fights it but they end up in guard.

Leander throws a leg kick which misses Ribeiro's front leg but catches the back leg as Ribeiro tries to avoid it.
Leander connects with a leg kick. Ribeiro looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Leander throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ribeiro.
Leander lands a glancing blow to the side of Ribeiro's head.

Ribeiro wants to clinch.
Leander feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ribeiros jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Leander has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
