Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Steve Rogers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chuck Norris! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rogers moves out of range as Norris strikes. Rogers has a takedown stuffed. Norris closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Rogers shoots in but no luck this time. Rogers rushes Norris and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Rogers turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Rogers manages to end up in side control. Rogers is trying to ground and pound but Norris uses the momentary lack of control by Rogers to regain half guard. Rogers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rogers has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rogers lands a big elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Norris is holding on tight.
Rogers lands a big shot there that rocks Norris but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Rogers wants to take Norris's back but he can't do it this time. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Rogers thowing shots but they're missing. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Rogers lands a heavy elbow. Rogers throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Norris has given up his back here. Will Rogers look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Norris preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Rogers. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rogers is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Norris is defending well though. Rogers let's go of the attempt for now. Rogers has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Norris! Can he survive? No! He's out! Rogers gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
