PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Hearst Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan has chosen The Game as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Hunter Hearst Hogan has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bob Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Hunter Hearst Hogan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hogan drives through with a takedown into Banks's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hogan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hogan looking to sit in guard and control but Banks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hogan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hogan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Banks is aware though and is defending well.

Banks got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hogan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Banks has managed to get both his arms back between Hogan's legs - danger averted.
Banks wants to control from the top but Hogan keeps moving.

Hogan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Banks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hogan on the ground.

Banks working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Hogan throws his legs up looking for a submission but Banks uses it to pass to side control.
Hogan tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Banks presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Hogan is trying desperately to improve position.

Banks not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Hogan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Banks is working away from the top position though.
Banks passes to side control.
Hogan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Banks off and has taken his back!
Hogan punches the canvas rather than the man.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hogan misses with an elbow to the head.
Banks has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Hogan throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Hogan's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Hogan thows a strike but Banks uses the opportunity to reverse the position! Great move by Banks as he ends up in Hogan 's guard!

Hogan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Banks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Banks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hogan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hogan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Banks stacks Hogan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Banks!
Hogan takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Hogan regains half guard.

Banks postures up.

Hogan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hogan throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hearst Hogan dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jab by Banks.
Hogan fails with the takedown
letting Banks counter with a right hand.
Banks fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Banks throws a leg kick that is checked
and Hogan counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Banks is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Nice body punch from Banks.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hogan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Banks connects with an inside leg kick.
Hunter Hearst Hogan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Banks punishes Hogan's body with a nice straight punch.
Hogan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banks's waist but Banks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hogan off to one side.

Banks throws a low kick but Hogan avoids it.
Hogan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bob Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Hearst Hogan.

Banks tries to land a front kick but Hogan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Hogan gets a double leg takedown into Banks's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hogan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hogan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Banks has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Hogan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hogan throws a big right hand that misses.
Hogan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Banks keeping moving, preventing Hogan from controlling successfully.

Hogan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Banks manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hogan is squirming around, avoiding Banks's attempts to control the action.
Hunter Hearst Hogan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hogan is trying to escape the mount.
Banks controlling the position easily from mount.

Hogan is looking to get to half guard.
Hogan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hogan tries to lock up and control but Banks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Hunter Hearst Hogan will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Hogan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Banks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Banks looks to score with a jab to the body but Hogan is just out of range.
Banks throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Hogan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banks is fending him off so far but Hogan persists. Nope, Banks circles away and we're back to standing.
Hogan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Banks throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hogan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hogan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Banks lands a right hook to the body.
Banks listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Hogan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hogan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Banks pinned against the cage. Banks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bob Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Hearst Hogan.
Hogan tries to clinch there but Banks circles away.

Hogan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Banks sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Banks lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hogan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hogan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Banks is pressing down on Hogan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hogan postures up in Banks's guard and throws a big left but Banks blocks it.
Banks wants to sweep here but Hogan controlling him for the moment.
Hogan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hogan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hogan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hogan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banks kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Banks showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hogan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
