Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Boris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Rice! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boris shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Rice is looking for a triangle but Boris pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Boris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Boris trying to control but Rice is working from the bottom. Rice is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boris defends well. Rice looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Boris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Boris with a flurry of punches that miss. Boris wants to control from the top but Rice keeps moving. Boris slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rice is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boris pulls his head out easily. Rice is pressing down on Boris's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Rice is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Boris is aware though and is defending well. Boris pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rice is keeping the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boris wants to control from the top but Rice keeps moving. Boris thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Rice looking for a guillotine here but Boris defends easily.
Boris has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rice is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boris gets to his feet. Rice looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Rice changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boris tries to avoid it but Rice manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boris to the ground. Boris escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Boris shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Boris quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Boris but it's paid off an Rice is forced to tap! Nice work by Boris.
