Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Alero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Selwoods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Alero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Selwoods! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alero takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Selwoods throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alero. Selwoods wants to clinch. Selwoods lands a nice looking body shot.
Alero scores with a takedown into Selwoods's guard. Alero trying to control but Selwoods is working from the bottom. Alero lands a couple of decent looking shots. Selwoods keeping full guard, as Alero tries to pass. Alero works a leg free and moves into half guard. Alero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Alero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Selwoods is looking to control Alero's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Selwoods avoid being mounted? Selwoods looks gassed! Alero drops an elbow to the side of Selwoods's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alero prevents Selwoods from improving his position. Selwoods won't allow Alero to pass to mount. Alero is working for a submission of some sort.
Alero is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Selwoods has managed to free his arm - good work. Selwoods gets full guard. Selwoods working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alero doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alero manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Alero in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Alero forces his way into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alero passes to full mount! Alero working the ground and pound effectively.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Alero raining down shots from the mount! Selwoods wants to hold on but Alero pushes him away. Selwoods can't escape the position.
Selwoods is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alero pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Selwoods defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Alero.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Selwoods is trying desperately to improve position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alero jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Selwoods manages to avoid the submission attempt. Alero wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Selwoods, who protects the arm well. Alero tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Alero working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Selwoods tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alero wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Alero tries to advance to mount but Selwoods denies him. Alero is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Selwoods knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Selwoods can't do much from the bottom here. Alero thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Alero has hold of Selwoods's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Selwoods seems comfortable defending it but Alero has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Selwoods is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Selwoods is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Alero couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus Alero!
