Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Nicholls! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Torello! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nicholls slips under a jab from Torello. Torello changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Torello slips a jab and a cross from Nicholls.
Nicholls ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Torello moves away. Torello misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nicholls.
Nicholls looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nicholls misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nicholls fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Nicholls. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nicholls ducks under a wild hook from Torello. Jab from Torello. Nicholls throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Torello's waist but Torello gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nicholls off to one side. Nicholls fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nicholls slips under a jab from Torello. Nicholls closes this distance looking for a takedown but Torello circles away. Torello jabbing away but nothing is landing. Nicholls keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Torello misses with a series of wild punches.
A slow jab from Torello misses its intended target. Nicholls looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Torello! Torello is desperately trying to improve his position but Nicholls has a good base and remains in mount. Torello wants to hold on but Nicholls pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Torello blocking the ground and pound. Torello tries to control the position but Nicholls now has his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Torello is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Torello turns into Nicholls and is now in his guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Torello throws a big elbow that misses. Torello looking to pass the guard. Torello throws an elbow that misses. Nicholls uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Torello's guard. Nice move by Nicholls! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Torello has his hands on Nicholls's head, controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but James Torello will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Nicholls ducks right into an uppercut from Torello. Torello misses with an uppercut. Nicholls saw that one coming. Torello swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nicholls. Torello throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Nicholls walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Torello fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nicholls manages to avoid it. Torello takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nicholls is rocked! BOOM! Torello lands a beautiful left hook that drops Nicholls. Nicholls tries to recover but Torello is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Nicholls lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Torello!
