Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Mctanned! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angelo Anaconda! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anaconda misses with a wild combination.
Mctanned drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Anaconda looking for a guillotine here but Mctanned defends easily.
Mctanned wants to pass the guard but Anaconda is keeping the position. Mctanned sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Anaconda's guard. Mctanned is nestled in close to Anaconda, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mctanned looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This has been an exciting period of action! Mctanned passes to side control. You can see the frustration on Anaconda's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anaconda is not content to let Mctanned control the position. Mctanned thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mctanned is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Anaconda knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. A control attempt from Anaconda but he's now mounted! Mctanned lands a big shot there that rocks Anaconda but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Mctanned prevents Anaconda from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mctanned has hold of Anaconda's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Anaconda manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mctanned is looking to work his way around to Anaconda's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Anaconda working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mctanned is working for a guillotine from mount but Anaconda frees his head quite easily.
Anaconda wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Mctanned is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Anaconda is tapping out! This one is all over!
