PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yaga Shura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victorio Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shura comes into the arena with The Angel blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yaga Shura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Victorio Simon!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Simon tries to clinch up.
Simon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shura shoots in but no luck this time.

Shura feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Simon wants to stand up but Shura is controlling him.
Simon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shura controls the pace.
Simon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Shura has gone for a leg lock! Simon slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shura's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simon wants to stand and escape but instead Shura has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shura slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Simon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shura seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Simon for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Yaga Shura just wasn't active enough.
Simon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shura.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yaga Shura. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Simon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shura paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Simon doesn't manage to clinch there - Shura circles away.
Simon looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Simon is looking to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Simon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shura shoots for a double leg takedown but Simon sprawls well. He's pushed Shura's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Simon scores with a nice body kick.
Simon tries a head kick but it misses.
Simon throws a leg kick which misses Shura's front leg but catches the back leg as Shura tries to avoid it.
Shura shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Simon as he avoids it easily.
Shura fails to land the takedown.

Shura bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shura is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Simon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Simon bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Simon looks gassed!

Shura closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Simon's guard.
Shura passes Simon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Shura controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shura stops Simon from getting back to his feet.
Simon is in trouble now - Shura has advanced to mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shura controlling the position easily from mount.
Simon tries to buck Shura off but Shura takes his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shura has got one arm under Simon's chin. This could be trouble... Simon trying to control the other hand but Shura gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Simon has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Yaga Shura!
