2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nester Asterix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Asterix is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Diaz's half guard. Diaz won't allow Asterix to pass to mount. Asterix blocks the strikes from Diaz.
Asterix is looking for a kimura here.
Asterix is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Asterix throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Asterix is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Diaz has managed to free his arm - good work. Diaz controlling the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz wants to control but Asterix is keeping busy and won't allow it. Asterix is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Diaz trying to hold on to Asterix's head to control him but Asterix postures up.

Diaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Asterix is working away from the top position though. Asterix is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Asterix really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz keeping hold of Asterix's head, controlling as best he can. Asterix is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nick Diaz. Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Asterix sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat. Diaz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. No luck with that takedown attempt from Asterix. Asterix throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Asterix is in Diaz's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Asterix missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Asterix wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Asterix takes a decent strike to the side of the head. Asterix is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Asterix wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position. Asterix trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Asterix thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Asterix from controlling successfully. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Asterix's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nester Asterix wasn't doing enough on the ground. Asterix keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Asterix avoids the head kick by Diaz.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Asterix looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Diaz misses with a body kick. Diaz is looking to take this fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Diaz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Diaz wants to take a breather but Asterix is having none of it. Asterix avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Diaz. Asterix preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Diaz misses with a head shot. Asterix uses the momentum to regain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Asterix wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Asterix tries to land a sweep but no joy. Diaz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Asterix is keeping the position for now.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Asterix's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Asterix is trying to keep Diaz in close.

Asterix seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Nester Asterix just wasn't active enough. Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Asterix swats him away and circles back towards the center. Asterix gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Diaz wants to pass the guard but Asterix is keeping the position. Asterix looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Asterix manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diaz manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Diaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Asterix misses with a takedown attempt - Diaz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nester Asterix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Asterix shoots in and bounces Diaz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Asterix wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position. Asterix wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Asterix can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Asterix has gone for a leg lock! Diaz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Asterix's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Asterix keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Asterix looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there. Asterix manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nester Asterix overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Asterix seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Diaz is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
