Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshi Doi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroyuki Okamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Okamoto's choice of entrance music: Feel the Drive. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Doi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroyuki Okamoto! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A low kick from Okamoto misses and Doi counters with a single leg into guard. Okamoto didn't expect that. Okamoto avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Doi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. An elbow from Doi crashes against the mat.
Okamoto is looking to reverse the position. Doi cracks Okamoto with a big right hand but Okamoto just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Doi working away. Doi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Doi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Okamoto knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. This has been an exciting period of action! Okamoto manages to work his way to half guard, despite Doi's best efforts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okamoto makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Okamoto. Doi wants to pass the guard but Okamoto is keeping the position. Doi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Doi wants to get up but he can't break Okamoto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Okamoto keeping moving, preventing Doi from controlling successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Okamoto can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doi stands up from guard. Let's bang! Okamoto clinches up with Doi and pushes him back against the cage. Okamoto is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Doi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Okamoto smiles and moves away.
Okamoto moves into the clinch. Doi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Okamoto is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Doi tries for a takedown but Okamoto manages to get underhooks.

Doi has Okamoto pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Okamoto manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Okamoto prevents a takedown attempt there.

Doi moves out of range as Okamoto throws a body kick.
Okamoto throws a leg kick and Doi counters with a three punch combo that has Okamoto backing up. Okamoto nods at Doi to acknowledge the strikes. Okamoto throws a leg kick that misses. Doi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hiroyuki Okamoto is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Okamoto throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Doi. Okamoto throws a leg kick but Doi sees it coming and moves out of range. Okamoto takes a swing at Doi's ribcage but misses. Okamoto is looking to land body kicks. That's four minutes gone in the round. Okamoto pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. A low kick from Okamoto is predictable there and Doi counters with a shoot takedown. Okamoto fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Doi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Okamoto dives on top into guard. Okamoto wants to control from the top but Doi keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doi keeping full guard, as Okamoto tries to pass. Doi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Okamoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Okamoto stopping the sweep attempt from Doi. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Doi trying to control the position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yoshi Doi dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Doi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Doi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Doi wants to finish this one by submission but Okamoto is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Doi. Okamoto can't escape the position.
Okamoto tries to hold on but Doi pushes him away. Doi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Okamoto is now in Doi's guard. A big mistake from Doi there, giving up the dominant position! Okamoto is in close to Doi's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Doi checks a leg kick. Okamoto lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Okamoto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Doi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Okamoto. Okamoto looks to land a combination. Doi sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Oh Doi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Okamoto misses with a lunging right hand
and Doi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Okamoto throws a head kick that misses. Okamoto clinches up with Doi and pushes him back against the cage. Doi seems to have got his legs back now. Okamoto tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Doi's elbow. Okamoto is defending well against a takedown attempt. Okamoto is trying to maintain a safe position but Doi gets an underhook and turns Okamoto into the cage. Doi has hold of one of Okamoto's legs. Okamoto is fighting the takedown attempt but Doi gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Okamoto working a defensive guard but Doi passes into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Okamoto wants to improve his position but Doi is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Okamoto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Okamoto uses his free foot to push down on Doi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Doi. Doi keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
