Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Assis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Thorpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Assis comes to the cage accompanied by Falling Slowly. Thorpe has chosen Limelight by Rush as his entrance music. Kimbo Assis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kimbo Assis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Thorpe!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Assis has Thorpe up against the cage in a clinch.
Thorpe gets underhooks to prevent Assis's takedown attempt.
Assis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Thorpe drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Assis gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Assis has picked Thorpe up - he's going for a ride! Assis dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Assis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Assis seems to be working for a kimura but Thorpe defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thorpe wants to get back to his feet.

Assis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thorpe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Assis is looking for a kimura here.

Assis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Thorpe wants to land a leg kick but Assis is out of range.
Assis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thorpe avoids it really well and circles away.
Thorpe leaves Assis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Thorpe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Assis quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Assis manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Assis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Thorpe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Thorpe is working Assis over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Thorpe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Thorpe scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Thorpe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Assis's head.

Assis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thorpe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Assis controls Thorpe momentarily but Thorpe frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thorpe stands up from Assis's guard - Thorpe perhaps looking for a knockout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thorpe.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Thorpe dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nice sprawl there from Thorpe as Assis shoots in.
Assis shoots for a double leg takedown but Thorpe sprawls well. He's pushed Assis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kimbo Assis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thorpe darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Thorpe wants to take a breather but Assis is having none of it.
Assis has hold of Thorpe's hands but Thorpe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Assis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Assis looks to land a strike but Thorpe avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Thorpe is looking to stand up but Assis isn't so interested in that idea.

Assis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thorpe is keeping the position for now.
Assis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thorpe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Assis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Thorpe is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Assis trying to control the position from guard on top but Thorpe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Assis clinches up with Thorpe and pushes him back against the cage.

Thorpe gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Assis regains guard.

Thorpe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Assis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Thorpe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Assis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Assis can't keep his opponent in guard - Thorpe advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Scott Thorpe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Assis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Thorpe pushes Assis off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Assis ducks straight into an uppercut from Thorpe and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Assis manages to regain guard straight away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thorpe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Assis working for submissions but it's allowed Thorpe to get to half guard.
Thorpe tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Assis is looking to improve his position.
Assis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Thorpe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Assis keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thorpe uses his free foot to push down on Assis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Assis.
Thorpe lands a big shot there that rocks Assis but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Assis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Assis is working hard here to advance position.
Thorpe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thorpe lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Assis is desperately trying to improve his position but Thorpe has a good base and remains in mount.
Thorpe lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Assis! Thorpe sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Assis and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Scott Thorpe!
An out of breath and clearly excited Scott Thorpe thanked Condemned for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
