Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Berrao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berrao comes to the cage accompanied by Common Knowledge - by Asher Roth. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rutten's choice of entrance music: Pride. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bas Rutten!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten moves in looking to clinch but Berrao pushes him off.
Good standup being displayed there by Berrao as he connects with a hook.
Nice jab there from Berrao.
Sloppy strikes from Berrao. Those never looked like landing.
Berrao misses with the combination.
Rutten wants to clinch up but Berrao keeps it at a distance.
Good work by Rutten as he checks the leg kick.
Rutten fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Berrao is out of range.

Rutten pushes off an throws an elbow but Berrao leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Rutten lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Rutten swings wildly with an uppercut but Berrao uses good head movement to avoid it.

Rutten throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Rutten tries to work over Berrao's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Rutten goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rutten misses with a knee strike.
Berrao manages to break the clinch.
Rutten misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Berrao tries to clinch there but Rutten circles away.
Rutten uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Berrao throws an overhand right that lands on Rutten's shoulder, as Rutten tries to avoid the shot.
Bas Rutten is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rutten looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Berrao avoids the body shot from Rutten.
Berrao lands with a hook. Rutten tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Berrao connects with a right hand. Rutten shakes it off.
Berrao gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Berrao throwing strikes but Rutten manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Berrao gets back to half guard.
Berrao is pressing down on Rutten's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Berrao is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rutten is aware though and is defending well.

Berrao manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rutten manages to get himself to full guard.
Berrao has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Berrao throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rutten works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Berrao is looking to work some ground and pound but Rutten has wrist control.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Berrao accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Berrao not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rutten lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Berrao!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poor strikes thrown by Rutten there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Berrao is looking to improve his position but Rutten isn't that keen on the idea.
Rutten jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Berrao is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Berrao and Rutten has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Berrao is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rutten is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Berrao looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Berrao in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Rutten tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Berrao!

After the fight, Miguel Berrao was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
