Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Monteiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yuang Chan!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan closes the distance but Monteiro moves to the side

and Monteiro counters with a nice double leg into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Monteiro looking to pass the guard.
Monteiro trying to control but Chan is working from the bottom.
Monteiro passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Monteiro is looking to take a break and control but Chan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Monteiro tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Monteiro is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chan has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monteiro tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Monteiro has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Monteiro is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chan has escaped the position, nice work there.

Monteiro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Monteiro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monteiro thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Chan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monteiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Monteiro goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Chan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Monteiro but great work by Chan.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Monteiro gets back to half guard.
Monteiro is looking for a sweep. Chan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Monteiro counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Monteiro.

Monteiro is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Monteiro.

Chan won't allow Monteiro to pass to mount.

Monteiro is working for a kimura but Chan is defending it quite comfortably.
Monteiro wants to take a breather but Chan is having none of it.

Monteiro is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chan defends it well.
Monteiro moves into full mount! Chan won't be happy about that!
Chan is trying to stand up.

Monteiro looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Monteiro is working for a guillotine from mount but Chan frees his head quite easily.

Monteiro has hold of Chan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Chan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Monteiro looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Monteiro can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chan is looking to escape.

Monteiro is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Monteiro extends the arm and Chan is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). William Monteiro!
A relieved looking William Monteiro thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
