Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jarez De Ertu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Polo Cambodia! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Ertu doesn't manage to clinch there - Cambodia circles away.
Cambodia shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cambodia showed some decent athleticism there. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cambodia keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. De Ertu is looking for a sweep. Cambodia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Cambodia missing with the ground and pound from half guard. De Ertu has hold of Cambodia's hands but Cambodia slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Cambodia controlling the action here. Cambodia stands up and beckons De Ertu to join him on the feet. Cambodia avoids a punch combination nicely.
De Ertu shoots for a takedown but Cambodia saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cambodia drives through with a takedown into guard. Cambodia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. De Ertu on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if De Ertu tries to get out of the position. De Ertu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cambodia's corner. There ya go! There ya go! De Ertu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cambodia on the ground. Cambodia sitting in guard, not really doing much. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Polo Cambodia wasn't active enough on the ground. De Ertu tries to close the distance and clinch but Cambodia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cambodia shoots in and gets a takedown into De Ertu's guard. Cambodia showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cambodia distracts De Ertu with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Cambodia is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. De Ertu doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Cambodia gets to his feet. De Ertu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! De Ertu fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cambodia bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. You can see the frustration on De Ertu's face as Cambodia controls the position. De Ertu really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cambodia working the ground and pound from side control. Cambodia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cambodia is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. De Ertu tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cambodia wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Cambodia landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Cambodia lands an elbow. Cambodia working the ground and pound. De Ertu struggling a bit here. De Ertu is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Cambodia in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cambodia thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Cambodia controlling the position from side mount. Cambodia advances to full mount. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cambodia controlling the pace for now. Cambodia lands with some strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Polo Cambodia dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
De Ertu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cambodia circles away. Cambodia fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jarez De Ertu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. De Ertu tries for a takedown but Cambodia sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cambodia closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. De Ertu quickly recovers to half guard. Cambodia is nestled in close to De Ertu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Cambodia lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. De Ertu is looking to control Cambodia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can De Ertu avoid being mounted? Cambodia controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cambodia stands up and beckons De Ertu to join him on the feet. Cambodia stuffs the takedown attempt from De Ertu. De Ertu gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jarez De Ertu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cambodia fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging De Ertu to the ground. Cambodia is now in De Ertu's guard. Cambodia gets to his feet. De Ertu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! De Ertu throws a series of punches but Cambodia avoids them all with ease. De Ertu gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cambodia to score an easy takedown into full guard. Cambodia got a little sloppy there for a moment and De Ertu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cambodia has managed to get both his arms back between De Ertu's legs - danger averted. De Ertu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cambodia landing some decent shots from guard. Cambodia keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of De Ertu's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cambodia working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of De Ertu's head. Cambodia is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Cambodia lands a couple of decent looking shots. Cambodia controls from within his opponent's guard. Cambodia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Polo Cambodia. Cambodia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Cambodia working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
De Ertu struggling a bit here. Cambodia lands an elbow. Cambodia decides to take the fight back to the feet. De Ertu doesn't manage to clinch there - Cambodia circles away.
Cambodia has a takedown stuffed. De Ertu closes the distance and pushes Cambodia back into the cage. De Ertu blocks a punch to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Ertu is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Cambodia turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! This has been an exciting period of action! Cambodia landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. De Ertu tries to bench press Cambodia off him but Cambodia keeps the position. Cambodia in side control, just content to control the action for now. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cambodia prevents De Ertu from escaping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Polo Cambodia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Cambodia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Still in half guard, Cambodia seems content to control. Cambodia decides to stand and escape the position. Jarez De Ertu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. De Ertu throws a wild combination but nothing lands. De Ertu tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cambodia manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Cambodia has a takedown stuffed. Cambodia misses with a takedown attempt - De Ertu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cambodia connects with a nice looking jab.
De Ertu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Cambodia closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. De Ertu did well to prevent Cambodia getting side control. Polo Cambodia has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cambodia content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. De Ertu missing with punches from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Ertu makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Cambodia shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. De Ertu manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Cambodia decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Cambodia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. De Ertu wants to sweep but no luck. Cambodia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. De Ertu has momentary wrist control but Cambodia slips an elbow through the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cambodia is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! De Ertu tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cambodia forces his way into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cambodia decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Cambodia misses with a takedown attempt - De Ertu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Jarez De Ertu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Polo Cambodia. Cambodia fails to land the takedown. De Ertu closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cambodia did well to prevent De Ertu getting side control. Well,De Ertu is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes? De Ertu wants to stand but Cambodia has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Ertu is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cambodia lands with a few short shots to the body. De Ertu tries to stand and escape but Cambodia actually recovers to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. De Ertu trying to control the position from guard on top but Cambodia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cambodia pulls De Ertu in close to prevent any damage. Cambodia keeping moving, preventing De Ertu from controlling successfully. Cambodia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in De Ertu's guard. Jarez De Ertu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Polo Cambodia is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cambodia not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that's the end of the fight! Polo Cambodia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Cambodia winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
