Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Lumvedeno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Weidman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrey Lumvedeno! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lumvedeno tries for a takedown but Weidman circles away easily and Weidman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lumvedeno's guard. Lumvedeno isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Weidman stacks Lumvedeno on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Weidman! Weidman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lumvedeno on the ground. Lumvedeno is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Lumvedeno taking a bit of punishment here - Weidman scoring with strikes. Lumvedeno tries to buck Weidman off but Weidman is having none of it. Weidman takes a little break here. Lumvedeno wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lumvedeno is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Chris Weidman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Lumvedeno misses with a takedown and Weidman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lumvedeno! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lumvedeno is wriggling around trying to escape.

Weidman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lumvedeno tries to hold on but Weidman pushes him away. Weidman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Weidman prevents Lumvedeno from getting the reversal. Weidman landing shots from mount. Weidman punishing his opponent with strikes. Weidman connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lumvedeno tries to get back to half guard but can't. Weidman looking to control and managing it successfully. Lumvedeno wants to hold on but Weidman pushes him away. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lumvedeno can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Weidman takes a little breather and maintains the position. Lumvedeno throws a right and a left that both miss. Lumvedeno checks a leg kick. Weidman wants to land a leg kick but Lumvedeno is out of range. Andrey Lumvedeno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lumvedeno with a poor takedown and Weidman counters with a single leg into guard. Lumvedeno didn't expect that. Lumvedeno trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lumvedeno wants to stand and escape but Weidman is having none of it. Weidman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Weidman tries to free his leg and advance position but Lumvedeno is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Weidman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lumvedeno tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Weidman is in Lumvedeno's guard. Weidman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Chris Weidman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Weidman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Weidman wasn't doing enough on the ground. Weidman shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Weidman goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Lumvedeno gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Weidman showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Weidman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lumvedeno can do to turn this around? Lumvedeno looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Weidman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lumvedeno has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Weidman has managed to get both his arms back between Lumvedeno's legs - danger averted. This has been an exciting period of action! Weidman won't allow Lumvedeno to sweep him here. Weidman is looking to work some ground and pound but Lumvedeno has wrist control. Lumvedeno is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Weidman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Weidman wasn't doing enough on the ground. Lumvedeno misses with a takedown attempt and Weidman counters with a takedown into side control. Lumvedeno seems a little lost for a moment, as Weidman dominates the positioning. Weidman connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lumvedeno some visible discomfort.
The referee asks Weidman politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Weidman prefers to stall for the moment though. Weidman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lumvedeno for as long as he can get away with. This has been an exciting period of action!

Chris Weidman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrey Lumvedeno. Lumvedeno tries to clinch but Weidman moves out of range. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Weidman throws a wild body kick that Lumvedeno sees coming a mile off. Lumvedeno throws a head kick that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Weidman dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Lumvedeno throws a body punch but Weidman moves out of range. Weidman slips a jab and a cross from Lumvedeno.
Weidman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Weidman looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Lumvedeno trying to keep a closed guard but Weidman is proving a slippery customer.

We're going to have a standup here because Chris Weidman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Weidman fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lumvedeno is out of range. Lumvedeno with a lazy takedown attempt and Weidman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Lumvedeno wants to stand and escape but Weidman is having none of it. Weidman showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Weidman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Weidman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Weidman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Nope, Weidman circles away and we're back to standing. Lumvedeno misses with a takedown and Weidman counters with a nice double leg into guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Weidman tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Lumvedeno sneaks back into half guard. Weidman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We're going to have a standup here because Chris Weidman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Lumvedeno doesn't succeed with the takedown and Weidman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lumvedeno's guard now. Weidman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Weidman cracks Lumvedeno with a solid left hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Weidman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Lumvedeno wants to stand up but Weidman is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Weidman misses with a low kick. Andrey Lumvedeno has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chris Weidman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lumvedeno is looking to clinch but Weidman is avoiding it.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Weidman showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Weidman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
