Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mico Pazuh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, TJ Clifford! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clifford stuffs the takedown. Clifford connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pazuh. Pazuh circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Pazuh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Clifford.
Pazuh fails with a takedown attempt. Clifford throws a nice inside leg kick. Pazuh drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Clifford tries to improve position but can't. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Clifford has eaten all the pies! Pazuh is trying to ground and pound but Clifford uses the momentary lack of control by Pazuh to regain half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Clifford blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pazuh. Clifford looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nice strikes from Pazuh there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pazuh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Clifford is looking to control Pazuh's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Clifford avoid being mounted? Clifford is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pazuh's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pazuh's back! Clifford working for the choke. Pazuh trying to control the position but Clifford manages to sink in the hooks. Pazuh trying to survive by controlling the hands. Pazuh showing good submission defense here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clifford missing with punches from the back. Pazuh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. This has been an exciting period of action! Pazuh turns into Clifford and is now in his guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Pazuh cracks Clifford with a solid left hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pazuh lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Clifford bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pazuh's guard. Pazuh throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Clifford drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pazuh looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pazuh looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pazuh! Pazuh stands up. Pazuh tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Clifford swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mico Pazuh. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Clifford lands an overhand right. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Clifford works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Clifford connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Pazuh's hands. Clifford catches Pazuh with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Pazuh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clifford's waist but Clifford gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pazuh off to one side. Pazuh is breathing heavily. Pazuh doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Clifford thumps Pazuh with a low kick. Clifford's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pazuh under the eye. Clifford scoring well with a low kick there.
Pazuh steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Clifford. That one must have hurt. Clifford lands a big head kick that sends Pazuh tumbling to the mat! Clifford takes a step backwards and waves Pazuh back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Mico Pazuh has been cut. Clifford bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pazuh's head.
Pazuh is rocked! Clifford plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Pazuh to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Pazuh just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). TJ Clifford! Our winner, TJ Clifford, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
