Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Kimmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimmo comes into the arena with Roni Size-Bite The Bullet blaring out of the sound system. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Kimmo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcelo Alves!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kimmo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Alves throws a series of punches but Kimmo moves out of range.
Nice cross by Kimmo.
Jab by Alves.
Kimmo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alves.
Kimmo throws a lazy right hand but Alves sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Alves takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kimmo ducks under a wild hook from Alves.
Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kimmo.
Alves walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Alves misses with a hook. Kimmo ducked under it nicely.
Alves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Alves digs a good body shot into Kimmo's ribs.
Kimmo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Alves is able to avoid easily.

Kimmo's corner calls for a 1-2. Kimmo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Alves lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kimmo throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Kimmo clinches up with Alves and pushes him back against the cage.
Kimmo is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Kimmo tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Alves wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Alves is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kimmo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Alves avoids the elbow strike from Kimmo, against the cage.
Alves wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kimmo has him pressed against the cage.

Alves throws a right hand that Kimmo ducks under and follows up with a left that Kimmo also avoids with ease.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Alves misses with a low kick as Kimmo jumps back.
Alves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kimmo.

Alves throws a series of punches but Kimmo avoids them all with ease.
Marcelo Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kimmo is looking to clinch but Alves is avoiding it.

Alves throws a lazy right hand but Kimmo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Alves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kimmo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kimmo is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Alves has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kimmo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Alves's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Alves tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kimmo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alves connects with a nice short shot to Kimmo's temple.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Alves is looking to take a break and control but Kimmo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kimmo tries to kick Alves off but Alves keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alves postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Alves is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kimmo is looking for a triangle but Alves pushes his legs off easily.

Kimmo has an active guard here but Alves has managed to pass into half guard.
Kimmo wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.
Alves throws a strike but Kimmo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Kimmo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Alves is working Kimmo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kimmo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kimmo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Alves is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michael Kimmo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alves crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kimmo - the referee stops the clock and Alves gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kimmo. Alves manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Kimmo scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Kimmo is looking to clinch but Alves is avoiding it.
Kimmo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Alves manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Alves lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Alves cracks Kimmo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Alves looks to land a left hand but Kimmo moved out of range nicely.
Kimmo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alves.

Kimmo takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Alves with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

and Alves cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kimmo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Alves manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Alves scores with a hook to the body. Kimmo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Alves jabs Kimmo to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Alves circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kimmo throws a solid leg kick but Alves takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kimmo.

Alves throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Alves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Kimmo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Alves in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
