Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wojciech Fons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fons is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ajron Men. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonny Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wojciech Fons! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fons throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Stevens closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stevens lands in his opponent's guard. Stevens is stalling in the full guard. Fons is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fons is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stevens has managed to free his arm - good work. Fons is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Stevens to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fons postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Fons must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fons pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stevens is keeping the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stevens seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Fons can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stevens controls the pace. Fons keeping moving, preventing Stevens from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jonny Stevens. Fons lets loose with a powerful body kick. Stevens will feel that in the morning. Fons defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stevens. Stevens throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fons was covering up waiting for the punch and Stevens finishes the takedown easily into guard. Fons looking for a guillotine here but Stevens defends easily.

Fons is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stevens controlling the position easily from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Stevens here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Stevens lands a big shot there that rocks Fons but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Fons wants to hold on but Stevens pushes him away. Fons regains half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stevens connects with a nice short shot to Fons's temple. Ground and pound from Stevens. Stevens not doing much here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fons is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stevens pulls his head out easily. Stevens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Stevens working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stevens controlling the pace. Fons is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stevens pulls his head out easily. Stevens looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fons with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stevens keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Stevens throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Well, if Stevens is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Jonny Stevens has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Stevens swats away the attempt to clinch by Fons. Fons misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Stevens takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Stevens shoots in but Fons avoids the takedown attempt easily. Fons misses with a straight left. Fons slaps away a takedown attempt from Stevens, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Stevens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fons misses with a head kick.
