Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joilton Nogueira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Balboa Batista! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batista tries to keep at a distance but Nogueira has taken the fight into the clinch. Nogueira gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. With the fighters up against the cage, Nogueira throws an elbow but misses. Batista working hard to break the clinch. Batista has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Nogueira after a bit of a struggle. Nogueira is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Batista is defending well for now. Nogueira tries to land knees in the clinch but Batista avoids the damage to the body. Batista wants to get back to striking at distance but Nogueira won't allow it.
Nogueira gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Batista drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nogueira pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Batista wants a takedown but no success here.
Joilton Nogueira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Balboa Batista. Batista is trying to force a seperation but Nogueira has the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nogueira throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Batista is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nogueira to keep the fight standing. Nogueira breaks the clinch.
Donk. Nogueira catches Batista right on the button with a cross. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nogueira defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Batista. Nogueira tries to clinch but Batista is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nogueira is looking to clinch but Batista is avoiding it.
Batista manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nogueira on his heels. He'll look to pass Nogueira's guard now, I'm sure. Batista looks winded! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Nogueira preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Nogueira keeping moving, preventing Batista from controlling successfully. Nogueira wants to stand but Batista is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Batista throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Batista tries to free his leg and advance position but Nogueira is retaining full guard. Nogueira is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batista is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nogueira keeping moving, preventing Batista from controlling successfully. Batista throws a big elbow that misses. Batista postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nogueira is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Batista, into his guard. Batista has a closed guard, preventing Nogueira from standing up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Batista has Nogueira pulled in close to control his posture. Nogueira avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Nogueira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Batista on the ground. Batista not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Batista tries to strike from the bottom.
Batista is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nogueira has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Batista to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Nogueira is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Batista pulls down on the head and he's put Nogueira to sleep! This one is all over!
