Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mingus Major (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Zaharn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zaharn has chosen 28 Days Later as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mingus Major!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Zaharn!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Major stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Major wants it to stay on the feet.
Zaharn avoids the body shot from Major.

Major fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zaharn sprawls well initially but Major persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Major trying to control the action but Zaharn is working from the bottom.
Zaharn trying to control from the bottom.
Zaharn tries to get to full guard but Major has control of the leg.
Zaharn manages to get to full guard.
Major working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Major wants to pass the guard but Zaharn is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zaharn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Zaharn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Zaharn pulls Major in to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Major fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Major scores with a shot to the body.
Zaharn jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Zaharn lands a head shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Zaharn.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Major instigates a clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Major fails to pull guard.
Major goes for a takedown attempt but Zaharn pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mingus Major. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zaharn fakes the leg kick and cracks Major in the body.
Major wants to clinch.
Major fails to land the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Major shoots in but Zaharn avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Major gets caught flat footed, as Zaharn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zaharn trying to control but Major is working from the bottom.
Major is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Zaharn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Major's guard.
Major wants to get back to full guard.

Zaharn trying to control the pace.
Zaharn is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Zaharn is trying to control the action in half guard but Major is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Major is looking to control Zaharn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Major avoid being mounted?
Zaharn is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Major!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zaharn lands a big shot there that rocks Major but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Major keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Major throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

Zaharn looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Zaharn dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Zaharn thows a left - swing and a miss!

Zaharn tries to keep at a distance but Major has taken the fight into the clinch.

Major manages to break the clinch.
Major shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zaharn as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Major is defended easily by Zaharn.
Major tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Danga de danga de dang - Major scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Ray Zaharn has been cut.
Major throws a half hearted mid kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zaharn connects with a looping right hand.
Zaharn swings for the body but Major moves out of range.

Major has Zaharn up against the cage in a clinch.
Zaharn is leaning against Major and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Major is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Zaharn tries to circle away but Major has him pinned against the cage.
Major tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mingus Major. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zaharn is trying to break the clinch but Major has him pressed against the cage.
Zaharn can't find room to land a body shot as Major controls the action.
Zaharn wants to break the clinch but can't.
Major has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Zaharn after a bit of a struggle.
Major tries for a takedown. No joy.

Major can't get the takedown.

Major successfully pulls guard.
Major is looking to stand up but Zaharn isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Major is trying to keep Zaharn in close.
Zaharn is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Zaharn trying to control but Major is working from the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zaharn tries to free his leg and advance position but Major is retaining full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Zaharn stays in close to Major's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ray Zaharn was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Major shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zaharn as he jumps to the side.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zaharn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zaharn takes a swing at Major's ribcage but misses.
Zaharn connects with a leg kick. Major looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Major dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Major looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mingus Major is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Major has closed the distance and engaged Zaharn in a clinch.

Major pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Major connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Zaharn thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Major if he has to take too many more of those.

Major scores with a spinning back kick!
Zaharn throws a combination that misses

and Major counters with a shoot takedown. Zaharn fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zaharn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Major is one step ahead there.
Zaharn working a defensive guard here.
Zaharn is pulling down on Major's head. It's preventing any offense from Major, at least for the moment.
Zaharn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Major manages to get himself to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Major not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mingus Major dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Ray Zaharn's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Major shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
No luck for Major with that takedown attempt.
Zaharn misses the body punch
and Major counters with a head kick. That will keep Zaharn thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Major cracks Zaharn with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Zaharn is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Major's half guard.
Major won't allow Zaharn to pass to mount.
Major wants to get back to full guard.
Major pushes Zaharn off but Zaharn dives into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Major is not content to let Zaharn control the position.
Major taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zaharn working the ground and pound from side control.
Major is trying to buck Zaharn off.
Major trying to remain calm as Zaharn controls from the top position.
Zaharn landing strikes.

Zaharn in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Major is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ray Zaharn!
