Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Giovani Sobrinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Struker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Giovani Sobrinho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tommy Struker!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobrinho throws a right and a left that both miss.
Struker with a lazy takedown attempt
and Sobrinho counters with a three punch combo that has Struker backing up. Struker nods at Sobrinho to acknowledge the strikes.

and Sobrinho counters with an inside leg kick.
Struker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sobrinho.
Sobrinho throws a right and a left that Struker avoids nicely.
Sobrinho connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Struker momentarily.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sobrinho tries to roll over but Struker keeps him under control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Giovani Sobrinho will probably get the nod.

Struker postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sobrinho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Struker, into his guard.

Sobrinho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Struker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sobrinho has managed to get both his arms back between Struker's legs - danger averted.

Struker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sobrinho doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sobrinho manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tommy Struker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sobrinho has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
