The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ronald misses with a takedown and Richards counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ronald! Richards with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Richards looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Ronald keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Richards is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ronald to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ronald shrugs it off. Ronald has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Richards is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Ronald with him. Ronald is trying to defend but Richards has an arm under the chin now! Ronald grimaces and is forced to tap out!
