4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, So Hai! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big left from Pontes misses. Pontes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pontes wants it to stay on the feet. Hai misses with a body shot
letting Pontes counter with a right hand. Pontes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hai. A big left from Pontes misses. Pontes misses with a looping right. Hai closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Pontes wants to control but Hai is keeping busy.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pontes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hai throwing strikes but missing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hai is fighting to break Pontes's control of his arms but Pontes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Hai in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Pontes keeping moving, preventing Hai from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pontes pulls Hai in close to prevent any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hai throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Hai ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pontes moves away. Pontes scores a takedown into full mount! Pontes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hai is looking to escape. Hai can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hai bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Hai trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pontes controls Hai momentarily but Hai frees himself. Pontes keeping moving, preventing Hai from controlling successfully. Pontes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hai. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hai throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pontes works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pontes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
So Hai dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hai fails to land the takedown. Hai scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Pontes wants to get back to his feet but Hai drags him back down. Hai looks up at the clock and then as Pontes takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hai smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Pontes can't do much from the bottom here. Pontes tries to bench press Hai off him but Hai keeps the position. An elbow from Hai crashes against the mat.
A lull in the action here as Hai stalls from top position. Pontes tries to buck Hai off but Hai is having none of it.

Pontes takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Hai fails to land a wild elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Hai seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Hai trying to control the action but Pontes is working from the bottom. Pontes tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Hai easily slips into full mount! Hai content just to control the position here. Hai landing punches. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pontes wants to hold on but Hai pushes him away. Oh Pontes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! So Hai has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hai tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Pontes seems to have got his legs back now. Hai won't let Pontes get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
So Hai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Hai is looking to take a break and control but Pontes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Pontes tries to get to full guard but Hai has control of the leg. Pontes tries to kick Hai off but Hai keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Still in half guard, Hai seems content to control. Hai drops an elbow to the side of Pontes's head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pontes misses with a two punch combination.
Hai shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. So Hai is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Pontes checks a leg kick. Hai swats away the attempt to clinch by Pontes. Hai tries a low kick but Pontes avoids it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hai drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Hai is pushing down on Pontes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pontes is fighting to maintain full guard but Hai has managed to sneak the leg through. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pontes looking for a kimura from the bottom but Hai passes into side control!
And that's the end of the fight! So Hai comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hai has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
