PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roy Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chak Rapthlaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rapthlaka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Not Afraid kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roy Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chak Rapthlaka!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yuuki Gou and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rapthlaka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Thomas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Rapthlaka looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Thomas has picked Rapthlaka up and slammed him! Rapthlaka can't keep hold of the triangle and Thomas manages to pass to side control!
Thomas wants to control but Rapthlaka is keeping him busy.

Thomas decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rapthlaka to his feet.
Rapthlaka shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rapthlaka shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Thomas manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rapthlaka postures up in Thomas's guard and throws a big left but Thomas blocks it.

Roy Thomas dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Rapthlaka shoots and misses
and Thomas counters with a left and a right that stings Rapthlaka.

Rapthlaka gets caught napping as Thomas dives in and scores a takedown. Rapthlaka manages to retain guard.

Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rapthlaka has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Rapthlaka's legs - danger averted.

Thomas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well Thomas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
