Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akao Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily.
Vera pushes Machida up against the cage in a clinch.
Machida throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Veras head.
Machida goes for a takedown in the clinch but Vera prevents it.
Machida tries to pull guard but Vera holds him up against the cage and eventually Machida drops back down to his feet.
Machida is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Vera can't fight it off and eventually Machida manages to take the fight to the floor. Vera looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Machida prevents Vera from getting back to his feet.
Vera is trying to keep Machida in close.
Machida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vera swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vera is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machida has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vera is proving hard to escape from.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Machida trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Vera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Machida circles away.
Vera fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Vera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machida misses with a takedown
and Vera counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Machida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Machida isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Vera stacks Machida on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Vera!
Machida looks gassed!
Machida is trying to buck Vera off.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vera decides to stand back up. Vera steps back and let's Machida get back to his feet.
Vera shoots in but Machida avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Vera throws a head kick that misses.
Machida tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Vera counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Machida wants to stall.
Vera misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Machida.
Machida creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Machida pushes off an throws an elbow but Vera leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Vera gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Machida.
Vera breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Machida darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Machida seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Machida wants to advance to full mount but Vera doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Machida trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vera's guard.
Machida passes into half guard.
Machida decides to return to a standing position.
Machida darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Machida works his way into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Machida passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Vera!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machida lands a heavy elbow.
Machida looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Machida throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Vera has his hands clasped together but Machida breaks the hold and Vera is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Machida!
