The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Igielski moves into the clinch. Igielski's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Helmsley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Igielski connects with a good right hand that stumbles Helmsley. Helmsley circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Excellent takedown into side control there by Igielski. Helmsley is trying to improve his position. Helmsley regains half guard. Helmsley wants to get back to full guard. Igielski is trying to control. Helmsley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Igielski moves nicely into side control. Helmsley on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Helmsley tries to get out of the position. Helmsley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Igielski swivels though and keeps the full guard. Helmsley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Igielski scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Helmsley throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Helmsley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Igielski defends it well. Helmsley throws a strike but Igielski avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
