Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luke Miran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin McKenzy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luke Miran! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kevin McKenzy! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miran tries to keep at a distance but McKenzy has taken the fight into the clinch. McKenzy trying to stall but Miran improves his position.
Miran stops a takedown attempt from McKenzy.
Miran is looking to control McKenzy's arms but McKenzy gets an underhook and turns him. Now Miran has his back to the cage. McKenzy taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Miran has clasped his hands together around McKenzy's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. McKenzy is looking to regain half guard here but Miran keeps moving and retains side control. McKenzy sneaks back into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McKenzy regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Miran. Miran drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McKenzy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miran has McKenzy in his guard. Miran wants to stand and escape but McKenzy is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. McKenzy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. McKenzy trying to control the position from guard on top but Miran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Miran can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McKenzy controls the pace. McKenzy stops Miran from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Luke Miran. A combination from McKenzy does no damage. McKenzy goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. McKenzy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Miran is fending him off so far but McKenzy persists. Nope, Miran circles away and we're back to standing. McKenzy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. McKenzy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Miran tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Miran is trying to stand but he's just given McKenzy his back. Miran trying to get back to his feet but McKenzy is in full control for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McKenzy missing with strikes from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin McKenzy dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Miran looks to land a combination but McKenzy avoids it well. McKenzy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Miran misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Miran throws a right and a left that both miss. Miran misses with a few strikes there.
McKenzy looking to score a takedown here. Miran is defending well but McKenzy drives through and ends up in Miran's guard. Miran looking to hit a scissor sweep but McKenzy is one step ahead there. Miran can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McKenzy controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. McKenzy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hammerfist, elbow! yells McKenzy's corner. There ya go! There ya go! McKenzy stands up from guard. Let's bang! Kevin McKenzy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McKenzy throws a lazy body kick and Miran counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Miran displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McKenzy. Miran avoids the head kick by McKenzy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McKenzy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Miran takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. This has been an exciting period of action! McKenzy lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Miran down.
Miran tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McKenzy patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
That's three minutes gone in the round. McKenzy has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Miran has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
McKenzy is persistently looking for the submission but Miran is defending it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Miran is trying to shake McKenzy off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! McKenzy won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. McKenzy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Miran pinned against the cage. Miran gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from McKenzy is defended easily by Miran. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin McKenzy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
McKenzy shoots in and drives through. Miran sprawls well. Miran avoids the body shot from McKenzy.
McKenzy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Miran checks a leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McKenzy closes the distance and pushes Miran back into the cage. Miran is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miran holding his opponent close, against the cage.
McKenzy's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Both fighters working to control the clinch. McKenzy manages to break the clinch.
McKenzy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Miran napping and manages to drive through into side control! Miran is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McKenzy has just dragged him back down to the mat. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. McKenzy postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Miran is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McKenzy is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McKenzy decides to stand back up. McKenzy steps back and let's Miran get back to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. McKenzy throws a right and a left that both miss. McKenzy shoots in for a double leg but Miran sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Luke Miran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin McKenzy. McKenzy clinches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McKenzy pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Miran stalling in the clinch but McKenzy improves position. McKenzy has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Miran is trying to keep an underhook but McKenzy manages to get the takedown into half guard. McKenzy trying to mount his opponent but Miran defends it. McKenzy stops Miran from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McKenzy wants to pass the guard but Miran is defending well. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Kevin McKenzy was stalling too much, according to the referee. Miran gets caught flat footed, as McKenzy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. McKenzy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miran has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes McKenzy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. McKenzy shoots in but no luck this time. Miran tries to bum rush McKenzy with a series of wild strikes but McKenzy uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McKenzy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McKenzy shoots in but no luck this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Kevin McKenzy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McKenzy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
