Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephen Howes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry Klein! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Klein throws out the jab. Klein throws a right hand that Howes ducks under and follows up with a left that Howes also avoids with ease. Howes throws a jab but it's blocked by Klein. Klein thows a body shot but no joy. Klein jabs Howes right on the nose. Howes blinks but takes it well. Klein swinging wildly here.
Howes throws a wild body kick that Klein sees coming a mile off. Klein cracks Howes with an open hand slap. Howes throws the kick towards the body but Klein avoids it. Klein misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Larry Klein is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Howes looking to score a takedown here. Klein is defending well but Howes drives through and ends up in Klein's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Klein can do anything to dispel that myth. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Howes pushing down on Klein's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Klein wants to get back to full guard but Howes has passed into side control. Klein is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Howes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Klein's shoulder. That is not cool. Howes prevents Klein from escaping the position. Klein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Howes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Howes has knee on belly and moves into mount. Klein wants to control but Howes is having none of it. Klein keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Howes is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Howes!
