Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Walters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Millidge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Millidge comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Caravan - Words That Make You Feel Good kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Walters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Richard Millidge!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Millidge misses with a hook.
Walters swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Walters walks into a left hand.
Walters scores with a jab to the jaw.
Walters uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Millidge has time to react.
Walters blocks a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walters misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Millidge.

Walters lands a big head kick that sends Millidge tumbling to the mat! Walters takes a step backwards and waves Millidge back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Walters throws an overhand right that lands on Millidge's shoulder, as Millidge tries to avoid the shot.

Oooooh!!! Walters has knocked Millidge down with a huge combo! Walters steps away and waves a wobbly Millidge back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

and Walters takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Millidge counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walters is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Millidge is looking for a kimura but Walters is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Millidge to get the leverage.
Millidge seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Millidge has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Millidge drops back, looking for a kneebar! Walters looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Walters looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Walters!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Millidge walks into a jab.
Millidge missing with a left hand there. Walters was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Walters, as that shot connected.
Millidge uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Walters.
Millidge lands a body shot.
Walters just misses with a punch to the body.
Millidge with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Walters to score with a decent uppercut.
Walters throws a leg kick that misses.
Walters fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Walters uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Millidge has time to react.
Millidge uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Walters.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Walters covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Well, with Millidge on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Walters is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Millidge dives in and grabs Walters's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walters pushes down on Millidge's head and hops out.
Walters is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Walters lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Walters has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Walters there as he acknowledges the shot.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Walters has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Millidge off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Millidge might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Millidge looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Walters is fending him off so far but Millidge persists. Nope, Walters circles away and we're back to standing.
