Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stan Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alf Alfa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivers comes to the cage accompanied by Cyco Vision. Alfa has chosen Jiu Jitsu - Smoke Serpent as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alf Alfa!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alfa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rivers is fending him off so far but Alfa persists. Nope, Rivers circles away and we're back to standing.
Rivers misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alfa.
Alfa misses with a takedown attempt - Rivers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Alfa shoots in for a takedown but Rivers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Stan Rivers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alf Alfa.
Alfa tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Rivers wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Rivers wants to stand up but Alfa is controlling him.

Alfa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rivers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alfa.

Rivers is looking to escape.
Rivers tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Alfa manages to move to mount!
Rivers holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Alfa tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Alfa is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rivers can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Alfa seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Rivers is holding on tight.
Rivers is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Alfa is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rivers to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rivers shrugs it off.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Alfa can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rivers is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alfa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Alfa is working for an americana but Rivers has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Alfa was thinking about the submission.

Alfais looking to pass into half guard but Rivers pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rivers is in guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alfa is on top in guard.
Rivers has momentary wrist control but Alfa slips an elbow through the middle.
Alfa stops Rivers from standing up.
Rivers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alfa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That was a close second round but I would say that Stan Rivers will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Alfa closes the distance and clinches up with Rivers, looking for a takedown. Alfa pushes Rivers against the cage but Rivers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rivers shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Alfa eats them both and turns towards Rivers to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Alfa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rivers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alfa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Alf Alfa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rivers throws a right and a left that Alfa avoids nicely.

and Rivers counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Alfa has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
