3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Michael! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michael is looking to clinch. Michael scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Michael wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maynard keeps working. Maynard looks to move to half guard but instead Michael has passed into mount! Damn! Michael really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maynard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Maynard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Michael swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Maynard is now in Michael's guard. A big mistake from Michael there, giving up the dominant position! Michael wants to stand up but Maynard is controlling him. Maynard showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Michael is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Maynard is controlling him.
