PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Starang Wondah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fada Maka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wondah looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Maka counters by clinching up.
Wondah is trying to maintain a safe position but Maka gets an underhook and turns Wondah into the cage.
Maka is pushing Wondah up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Maka breaks from the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wondah.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Starang Wondah. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wondah is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Maka gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Maka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wondah throws a shot from downtown. Maka moves away and avoids it.

Maka digs a right hand into Wondah's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Wondah's gas tank.
Wondah has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maka is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Wondah is breathing heavily.

Maka breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wondah jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Maka should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Maka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maka lands with an uppercut that bounces Wondah off the cage and back into range.

It looks like Starang Wondah has been cut.
Wondah shoots in looking for a takedown. Maka tries to sprawl out of it but Wondah keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maka manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wondah shoots for a takedown but Maka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wondah ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maka moves away.

Maka defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wondah.

Wondah is trying to pull guard but Maka turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Wondah is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Maka is keeping busy.

Maka breaks the clinch.

Nice combo by Maka! Oh, that's hurt him - Wondah falls to the canvas and Maka follows him into side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Maka tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Oh Wondah is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wondah is trying to improve his position.
Wondah seems to have got his legs back now.
Maka working away.
Wondah gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Wondah is looking to improve his position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fada Maka dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Starang Wondah's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Maka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wondah paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Maka cracks Wondah with a big right hand and Wondah goes down!

Starang Wondah's cut is getting worse.
Maka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wondah working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Wondah is tightening it up a little... Maka has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Maka reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Maka taps out! Nice BJJ there by Wondah!
