The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Knight tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Thompson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Thompson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Knight tries to clinch up but Thompson circles away and keeps his distance.
Thompson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Knight tries a head kick but it misses.
Knight fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Knight is looking to clinch.
Thompson avoids a kick to the body.
Knight tries to close the distance and clinch but Thompson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Knight fails with an attempt to clinch.

Knight shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thompson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Knight is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Thompson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Knight is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thompson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Thompson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Knight is controlling him well.

Knight thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Knight is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thompson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Thompson looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Knight! Submission of the night perhaps?
