The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alekseeva with a jab.
Alekseeva connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Benjamin's hands.
Alekseeva scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Benjamin shoots for a double leg takedown but Alekseeva sprawls well. He's pushed Benjamin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Benjamin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Alekseeva smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Benjamin.

Alekseeva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Benjamin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Benjamin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alekseeva keeps working.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alekseeva can do anything to dispel that myth.
