The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roper lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Phillips has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Roper uses from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Phillips has Roper pressed against the cage, preventing Roper from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

and Phillips connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Phillips tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roper paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Phillips rushes Roper and presses him up against the cage.
Roper has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Phillips tries to pull guard but Roper holds him up against the cage and eventually Phillips drops back down to his feet.

Phillips tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Scott Roper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Phillips.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You get the feeling that Roper really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Roper is trying to defend against the choke here but Phillips has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Phillips Tightens the hold and Roper taps out furiously! Phillips displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
