The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Ripkin, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Ripkin against the cage but Ripkin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ripkin clinches with his opponent.
Smith tries to score a body lock takedown but Ripkin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Ripkin gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Smith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Smith wants to improve his position but Ripkin is controlling well.

Smith shoots in for a takedown but Ripkin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
