Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kolo Cornelius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oscar Kline! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good standup being displayed there by Kline as he connects with a hook. Cornelius takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cornelius gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kline. Kline just misses with a punch to the body.
Kline thows a left - swing and a miss! Oscar Kline seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kline fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cornelius on the side of the head. Kline scores with a nice head shot. Cornelius shoots in and drives through. Kline sprawls well. Kline stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kline wants it to stay on the feet. Jab from Kline. Kline getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Kline tests Cornelius's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cornelius fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kolo Cornelius. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cornelius avoids the body shot from Kline.
Cornelius gets a double leg takedown into Kline's guard. Cornelius slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Cornelius won't allow Kline to get back to his feet. Cornelius cracks Kline with a solid left hand. Kline really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cornelius. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cornelius scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cornelius is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cornelius has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cornelius throwing strikes from guard but Kline blocks nicely. Kline looks winded! Cornelius throws a big right hand that misses. Kline avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kline can do anything to dispel that myth. Cornelius throws a strike but Kline rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Cornelius pulls Kline in close to prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kolo Cornelius just wasn't active enough. Cornelius changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kline tries to avoid it but Cornelius manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kline to the ground. Kline escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Cornelius drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cornelius accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cornelius throws a big elbow that misses. Cornelius throwing strikes but missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cornelius working some strikes from top position. Cornelius gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Cornelius shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kline as he jumps to the side. Kline fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cornelius fails with a takedown attempt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cornelius shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kline defends it nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kolo Cornelius dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Cornelius dives in and grabs Kline's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kline pushes down on Cornelius's head and hops out. Good exchange - Kline coming out on top. Cornelius misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cornelius doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Cornelius takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kline swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cornelius displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kline throws out the jab. Kline getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Cornelius takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kline misses with a wild body shot. Kline lands an overhand right. Kline lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cornelius at a distance.
Cornelius misses with a takedown attempt - Kline sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kolo Cornelius. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kline lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cornelius shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kline as he jumps to the side. Cornelius tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kline sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cornelius somewhat. Kline lands a lovely overhand right. Kline throws the left hand but Cornelius avoids the punch easily. Cornelius closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kline circles away. Cornelius avoids the body shot from Kline.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Cornelius or perhaps it was just good defense by Kline which made him look bad. Cornelius on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Kline stuffs the takedown attempt from Cornelius. Cornelius gets slowly back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Good shot there by Kline. Kline works Cornelius's body with a nice hook. Cornelius tries for a takedown but Kline sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Kline digs a good body shot into Cornelius's ribs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kline scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cornelius doesn't seem bothered though. Cornelius on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kline scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cornelius in his tracks. Oscar Kline is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cornelius on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Cornelius fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cornelius looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cornelius takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Oscar Kline showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Kline leaves Cornelius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kline scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Cornelius shoots in looking for a takedown. Kline tries to sprawl out of it but Cornelius keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kline manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Cornelius tries for a takedown but Kline sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kolo Cornelius. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cornelius shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kline but Kline pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kline scores with a jab to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kline scores with a nice strike. Kline connects with a right hand. Cornelius shakes it off. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kline. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Cornelius shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kline pinned against the cage. Kline gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jab, jab by Kline - just one landing. Cornelius takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Cornelius looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Kline scores with a jab. Cornelius acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Kline connects with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Kline. That snapped Cornelius's head back.
Cornelius ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kline moves away. Cornelius drives through and clinches with Kline against the cage.
Kline manages to break the clinch.
Kline connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cornelius. Cornelius circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Kline misses with a shot to the body and Cornelius counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cornelius is looking for a kimura here.
Cornelius decides to return to a standing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kline stuffs the takedown attempt from Cornelius. Cornelius gets slowly back to his feet. No luck for Cornelius with that takedown attempt. Kline scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kline getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Cornelius walks into a stiff left hand from Kline. Kline lands a lovely overhand right. Kline misses with a hook. Kline connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cornelius momentarily.
Kline throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cornelius shoots for a double leg takedown but Kline sprawls well. He's pushed Cornelius's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cornelius shoots in looking for a takedown but Kline manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cornelius's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kline cracks Cornelius with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Oscar Kline. I think Kline has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
