Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abaka Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus Solonik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Abaka Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gus Solonik!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solonik misses with a straight right.
Khan wants to clinch.
Solonik lands a body shot.
Khan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Khan lands a leg kick that knocks Solonik off balance momentarily.
Khan thows a body kick. Solonik tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Solonik throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Khan tries to clinch but Solonik moves away
and Solonik cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Solonik takes a knee right on the jaw!

Khan doesn't manage to clinch there - Solonik circles away.
Solonik avoids a kick to the body.
Khan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Solonik shoots in and drives through. Khan sprawls well.
Khan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Solonik shoots in but Khan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Khan moves into the clinch.
Abaka Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gus Solonik.

Khan creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Solonik tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Solonik is rocked!
The referee calls for Khan to work.

Solonik manages to pull guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khan wants to get up but he can't break Solonik's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Khan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Khan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Solonik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khan has managed to get both his arms back between Solonik's legs - danger averted.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Solonik is looking for a triangle but Khan pushes his legs off easily.

Khan drops back looking for a leg! Solonik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Solonik manages to kick Khan off! Khan jumps back into Solonik's guard.

Khan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Khan won't allow Solonik to sweep him here.

Khan throws a strike but Solonik rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Solonik wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abaka Khan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Khan leaves Solonik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Solonik paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Abaka Khan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Khan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Solonik throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Solonik manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Both fighters circling a little - Khan finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Khan tries to close the distance and clinch but Solonik swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Solonik is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Solonik tries to pull guard but Khan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Khan drops Solonik with a big knee straight up the middle! Solonik is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

It looks like Gus Solonik has been cut.
Abaka Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Solonik is breathing heavily.
Khan is looking to clinch but Solonik is avoiding it.
Solonik circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fight stays on the outside here - Khan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Solonik seems to have recovered his senses.
Khan misses with a double jab.
Khan tries to close the distance and clinch but Solonik swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Solonik trying to control the position but instead, Khan has worked for underhooks and has pushed Solonik into the cage.
Abaka Khan has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Khan pushes off an throws an elbow but Solonik leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Khan comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Solonik tries to break free but Khan pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Khan tries to bum rush Solonik with a series of wild strikes but Solonik uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A jab from Solonik finds it's way through Khan's defenses.
Khan throws a sloppy head kick and Solonik moves out of range easily.

Nice sprawl there from Khan as Solonik shoots in.
Solonik takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Khan scores with a head kick. Solonik tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Solonik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Solonik somewhat.
Abaka Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Khan has Solonik pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Solonik is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Khan - that's hurt Solonik badly! Oh, another knee lands and Solonik is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Solonik doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:08 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Abaka Khan!
An out of breath Abaka Khan thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
