Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Smirnov quickly recovers to half guard.
Valor is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Smirnov tries to roll over but Valor keeps him under control.
Valor is looking to stall here but Smirnov recovers full guard.
Valor has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Valor here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

John Valor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Let's hope that Smirnov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Valor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
