Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kazuyuki Shimizu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jyrska Velmu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velmu has chosen Doctor Doctor by UFO as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velmu tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shimizu swivels and escapes.
A lazy left from Shimizu finds it's target.
Shimizu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shimizu goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Velmu throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Shimizu looks to land a combination but Velmu avoids it well.
Velmu misses with a wild body shot.
Velmu's jab looks to have found its range, popping Shimizu under the eye.

and Velmu counters with a thumping low kick.

Velmu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Velmu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shimizu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Velmu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Velmu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shimizu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shimizu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like Kazuyuki Shimizu has been cut.

Kazuyuki Shimizu's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Velmu has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shimizu's face.

enabling Shimizu to counter with a crisp jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shimizu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Velmu. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Jeez, Kazuyuki Shimizu's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Shimizu takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Velmu feints and then cracks Shimizu's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shimizu down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Horrible takedown by Velmu or perhaps it was just good defense by Shimizu which made him look bad.
