Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Lesnar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Voin Upyachki! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lesnar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Upyachki is fending him off so far but Lesnar persists. Nope, Upyachki circles away and we're back to standing. Horrible takedown by Lesnar or perhaps it was just good defense by Upyachki which made him look bad. Lesnar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Upyachki as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Lesnar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horrible takedown by Lesnar or perhaps it was just good defense by Upyachki which made him look bad. Lesnar fails to land the takedown. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Lesnar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lesnar stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Upyachki. Upyachki throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Lesnar shoots in but Upyachki avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nice takedown defense from Upyachki. No joy for Lesnar on that attempt. Lesnar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lesnar is breathing heavily. Upyachki wants to get back to his feet. Lesnar is looking to take a break and control but Upyachki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Upyachki wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Upyachki is looking for a sweep. Lesnar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lesnar tries to pass the half guard into mount. Upyachki knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Upyachki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Upyachki closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Upyachki is pressed up against the cage. Lesnar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Upyachki down to the mat. Upyachki avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lesnar has a takedown stuffed. Upyachki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lesnar. A good leg kick by Upyachki. Lesnar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Upyachki looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lesnar lands an elbow. Lesnar landing strikes. Lesnar cracks Upyachki with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Lesnar immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Upyachki is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Lesnar!
