The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stockmann's waist but Stockmann gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hernandez off to one side. Hernandez is looking to clinch. Hernandez tries to sprawl but Stockmann drives through with a takedown into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Hernandez is looking for a sweep. Stockmann is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hernandez is working hard here to advance position. Stockmann tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hernandez. Hernandez wants to get back to full guard. Stockmann tries to stand and escape but Hernandez is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hernandez keeping control of the position. Stockmann wants to stand but Hernandez has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Andreas Stockmann. Hernandez is looking to clinch. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Hernandez tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Hernandez has a hand on Stockmann's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Stockmann takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Stockmann controlling the pace for now. Stockmann prevents Hernandez from getting the reversal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stockmann controlling from the full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hernandez tries to reverse the position but Stockmann maintains control. Hernandez wants to control but Stockmann is having none of it. Stockmann content just to control the position here. Stockmann decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Stockmann shoots in looking for a takedown but Hernandez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stockmann's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Hernandez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hernandez drives through with a takedown into Stockmann's guard. Stockmann defends it easily. Stockmann must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. This has been an exciting period of action! Stockmann engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Hernandez is pulling down on Stockmann's head. It's preventing any offense from Stockmann, at least for the moment.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andreas Stockmann wasn't active enough on the ground. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stockmann is defended easily by Hernandez. Stockmann shoots in but no luck this time. Stockmann gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hernandez to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hernandez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stockmann pinned against the cage. The fight stays on the outside here - Hernandez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Stockmann shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hernandez pinned against the cage. Hernandez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Miguel Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andreas Stockmann. Hernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stockmann swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hernandez keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Hernandez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hernandez looking for submissions off his back. Stockmann tries to pass to full mount but Hernandez defends it.
