Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaspars Daugavins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pieter Pieter! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Daugavins misses. Daugavins misses with a double jab.
Daugavins lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pieter circles away quickly and effectively. Daugavins swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Daugavins takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Daugavins tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pieter was well out of range. Poor timing from Daugavins. A looping hook to the body misses from Daugavins. Pieter does a little dance to reset his feet. Daugavins slaps away a takedown attempt from Pieter, before circling back to the center of the mat. Daugavins loads up on a big right hand but Pieter slips the punch. Pieter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Daugavins as he jumps to the side. A telegraphed right hand from Daugavins misses the target. Daugavins scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Daugavins throws an overhand right that lands on Pieter's shoulder, as Pieter tries to avoid the shot. Pieter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Daugavins circles away. Kaspars Daugavins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pieter Pieter. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Daugavins throws a right and a left that Pieter avoids nicely. Daugavins throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daugavins lands the left hand. Pieter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pieter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Daugavins. Daugavins misses with a wild body shot. Pieter avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Pieter walks into a left hand. Daugavins misses the jab. A big right from Daugavins misses. Pieter drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Kaspars Daugavins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Daugavins throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Pieter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Daugavins's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Pieter showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Let's hope that Pieter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pieter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Daugavins looking to control.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A looping hook to the body misses from Daugavins. Pieter does a little dance to reset his feet. Daugavins lands a lovely overhand right. Pieter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice uppercut there from Daugavins. Nice defenses there by Pieter. Daugavins looks to land a combination but Pieter avoids it well. Pieter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Daugavins wants to control but Pieter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pieter stalling. Daugavins is trying to control but can't.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pieter feints and as Daugavins raises his hands in defense, Pieter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pieter preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pieter controls from within his opponent's guard. Daugavins controls Pieter momentarily but Pieter frees himself. Pieter tries to free his leg and advance position but Daugavins is retaining full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pieter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pieter wants to pass the guard but Daugavins is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kaspars Daugavins dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A slow jab from Daugavins misses its intended target. Daugavins looks to land a right hand but Pieter moved out of range. Daugavins connects with a right hand. Pieter shakes it off. Pieter slips a straight right by Daugavins. Daugavins waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pieter. Daugavins throws a poor cross that misses
and Pieter counters with a single leg into guard. Daugavins didn't expect that. Pieter is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daugavins looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pieter has picked Daugavins up and slammed him! Daugavins can't keep hold of the triangle and Pieter manages to pass to side control! Pieter controls the position. Pieter thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Daugavins is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daugavins being controlled for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daugavins tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pieter presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Pieter controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pieter scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Daugavins?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pieter Pieter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Pieter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Pieter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pieter is staying tight to Daugavins's torso, preventing him from escaping. Pieter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Pieter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pieter staying calm. Daugavins tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pieter controls the position.
Pieter Pieter has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Daugavins misses with an uppercut
and Pieter counters with a takedown into side control. Pieter throws a strike aimed at the side of Daugavins's head but Daugavins avoids it well. Daugavins is trying to get back to half guard. Pieter gets to mount! Daugavins was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pieter controlling his opponent. Pieter lands a heavy elbow. Pieter sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Daugavins is looking to improve his position but Pieter isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pieter avoids the attempt from Daugavins to control. Pieter looking to control and managing it successfully. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pieter lands with some strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Pieter Pieter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Pieter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Pieter Pieter! A very excited looking Pieter Pieter rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
