The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hearns sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hearns tries a head kick but it misses.
Hearns throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cruz.
Cruz lands with an overhand left.
It looks like Thomas Hearns has been cut.
A slow jab from Hearns misses its intended target.
Hearns throws a lazy right hand but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A jab from Hearns finds it's way through Cruz's defenses.
Hearns has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hearns there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hearns throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hearns on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Hearns looks to land a left hand but Cruz moved out of range nicely.
Hearns throws a combination that misses
and Hearns is countered with a crisp right hand from Cruz that sends him to the canvas! Cruz follows him to the mat into side control.
Hearns is rocked!
Cruz in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Hearns looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Cruz turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jorge Cruz!
Jorge Cruz spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
