The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venturia tries to bum rush McBorin with a series of wild strikes but McBorin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McBorin throws a jab when Venturia was well out of range.
McBorin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Marcus McBorin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Venturia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McBorin.
McBorin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Venturia wants to break the clinch but can't.
McBorin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Venturia prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus McBorin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Venturia breaks from the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McBorin.
McBorin slips a jab and a cross from Venturia.
Venturia stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Venturia wants it to stay on the feet.
McBorin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Venturia works over McBorin's head and body with a nice combination.

McBorin wants to clinch up but Venturia keeps it at a distance.
A head kick lands from Venturia that sends McBorin to the canvas. McBorin tries to scramble back to his feet but Venturia brings him back down into side control.
McBorin is rocked!

Venturia trying to control the position but McBorin is working away.

Venturia wants to lay and pray for a moment but McBorin keeps working.
McBorin seems to have got his legs back now.
McBorin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Venturia is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McBorin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
McBorin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
McBorin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Venturia is working for a kimura but McBorin is defending it quite comfortably.
McBorin is looking for a sweep. Venturia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Venturia is working for a submission of some sort.
McBorin is staying active underneath Venturia, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Venturia wants to stand but McBorin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
McBorin gets full guard.
McBorin is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Venturia frees his head nicely. Oh but McBorin has switched to an armbar! Venturia is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
