Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sim Salabim! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Tamad! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salabim blocks a head kick by Tamad.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Tamad!
The fight stays on the outside here - Salabim looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Salabim cracks Tamad with a right hand to the side of the head. Tamad throws out a leg kick but Salabim moves out of range and Tamad only half commits. Tamad thows a leg kick but Salabim checks it and Salabim counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Tamad tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tamad misses with a leg kick. Salabim just misses with a punch to the body.
Sim Salabim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Salabim throws a shot to the body.
Tamad misses the shot to the body. Salabim digs a good body shot into Tamad's ribs. Tamad misses with a body shot.

Salabim gets caught flat footed, as Tamad shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Tamad looking to pass the guard. Salabim wants to sweep here but Tamad controlling him for the moment. Tamad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salabim swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tamad must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tamad preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tamad postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Tamad landing some decent shots from guard. Tamad pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Salabim is keeping the position for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Salabim tries to land a sweep but no joy. Salabim keeping full guard, as Tamad tries to pass. Tamad throwing strikes but missing. Salabim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Salabim manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Salabim is in the full mount, landing strikes. Tamad is desperately trying to improve his position but Salabim has a good base and remains in mount. Tamad defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Salabim. Salabim landing strikes from the mount and Tamad is in trouble! Tamad in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Salabim landing punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tamad keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Salabim lands a big elbow. Salabim unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Tamad wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Salabim celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
